An exciting opportunity for an aspiring Service Manager

This is based at Luton & Dunstable Hospital, with potential cross site working to Bedford Hospital.

The post holder will be expected to undertake a wide range of duties to support the clinical and management team on a strategic and operational basis. They will be instrumental in the smooth running of the service/group, working autonomously and leading the department in its operational demands.

This role will be in direct support of the General Manager, Service Manager, Clinical Directors & Senior Nursing team within group 12. 

To be responsible for monitoring the DMO1 targets; co-ordinating actions for long waits, and reporting to relevant modality leads on a weekly basis.

To manage the administrative function of the assigned department To provide direct line management and supervision of the administrative & clerical staff within the speciality To review and improve data quality within the directorate and clinical business units. To support the leads for the robust data collection to plan the service delivery and improvement. Develop consultant and registrar’s rotas in conjunction with General Manager and clinical lead and maintain leave trackers to ensure up-to-date records are held in a central area to be accessible to all staff that require the information.

Main duties of the job

Monitor and manage DMO1 performance targets, coordinating actions to address long waiting times and producing weekly performance reports for relevant modality leads. Lead and manage the administrative function of the assigned department, ensuring efficient and effective day-to-day operations.

Provide direct line management, supervision, and development of administrative and clerical staff within the specialty to maintain high standards of performance and engagement.

Review, maintain, and improve data quality across the directorate and clinical business units, supporting robust and accurate data collection to inform service planning, delivery, and improvement.

Develop and maintain consultant and registrar rotas in collaboration with the General Manager and Clinical Lead, including the management of leave trackers to ensure accurate, up-to-date records are held centrally and accessible to relevant staff.

Coordinate and support the medical workforce, working closely with the General Manager, Operational Manager, Clinical Directors, the central Medical Workforce team, rota coordinators, and Finance to ensure safe and effective staffing.
