Ophthalmology IVT & Clinical Pathway Coordinator

Job overview
To undertake responsibility for the operational co-ordination of the Intravenous Service and for providing the central point for communication for bookings, appointments and clerical issues within the Eye Clinic.
To monitor compliance with clinical standards and NICE guidance for treatment of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), diabetic macular oedema (DMO), central and branch retinal vein occlusions (CRVO and BRVO) and other related retinal conditions,
To escalate issues and schedule additional capacity when required ensuring that treatment is carried out within agreed time frames.
Main duties of the job
To work closely with the Clinical Lead, Service Manager and Matron to ensure that the service is patient focused, efficient and delivered accordingly to national guidelines.
To undertake responsibility for accurate data entry onto the Trust and National databases including prompt completion of BlueTec for notification to the local CCG as well as correlation of data returns to meet required time scales.
Maintain key relationships with colleagues to ensure a patient focussed and high quality experience in the Intravitreal Service.
To support all clinical pathways with Ophthalmology to ensure patient safety

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be accountable to the Clinical Director and General Manager for Ophthalmology. You will be expected to work closely with the Service Manager and Rota Coordinator for Ophthalmology Services. In addition you will be expected to work directly with:

· Matron and senior nursing team
· Ophthalmology administrative team
· Pharmacy Department
· Information Department
· IT Department

Qualifiations
Essential criteria
- Good general education GCSE or equivalent in English Grade C or above
Desirable criteria
- NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration or customer care or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of patient/customer care administration
Desirable criteria
- Previous NHS experience
Skills / Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Experience dealing with patient/customer queries
- Ability to prioritise tasks effectively without direct supervision
