Job overview

Make a difference beyond the hospital walls

Are you looking for a rewarding role where you can make a real difference to patients' lives? Would you like to be part of a friendly, supportive team committed to delivering high-quality care? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

As our Pharmacy Homecare service continues to grow, we're looking for an enthusiastic Pharmacy Homecare Officer to join our team. Working across both Bedfordshire Hospitals sites, you'll play a key role in helping patients receive specialist medicines safely, reliably and conveniently in their own homes.

You'll work closely with Homecare providers, clinicians and Pharmacy colleagues to coordinate Homecare prescriptions, process medication orders and support the smooth delivery of this essential service using our Pharmacy IT systems.

We're looking for someone who is organised, proactive and able to manage their own workload while meeting deadlines. You'll have excellent communication skills, enjoy working as part of a team and be committed to providing an outstanding patient experience.

In return, you'll join a welcoming and supportive Pharmacy team where your contribution is valued, your development is encouraged and your work makes a genuine difference to patients every day. If you're ready to take the next step in your career, we'd love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

  1. To carry out a range of duties associated with the ordering/receipt and invoicing of medicines provided through Homecare medicine providers using the Pharmacy computer systems across sites.
  2. To maintain relevant databases related to all aspects of Homecare medicines provision and provide appropriate reports as required.
  3. To assist in the management of the administration infrastructure supporting the Trusts’ provision of Homecare Services and Patient Access Schemes for medicines.
  4. To liaise with appropriate nursing staff/clinical teams to ensure and facilitate the timely provision of prescriptions required for Trust patients receiving medication via Homecare.
  5. To develop and maintain good working relationships with Homecare medicines provider customer services to ensure speedy identification and resolution of any problems.

The Trust continues to be committed to delivering the best patient care using the best clinical knowledge and technology available.
