Job overview

We are currently looking for enthusiastic phlebotomists to work in our very busy Phlebotomy, Anticoagulant, Inpatients and Outpatients services when required 

The locations of our services are:

Luton and Dunstable Hospital inpatient wards, adult and paediatric outpatient departments

Arndale House in Luton shopping mall

The Travel Lodge, Dunstable Road, Luton. (09.00-17.00)

You will be part of a developing team working in a very busy and essential area of the Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Duties will include:

  • Taking blood samples from outpatients and inpatients.
  • Carrying out general departmental duties.

This is a Band 2 post as bank when required 

Main duties of the job

  • To undertake collection of blood samples from inpatients,  outpatients and GP requests  after suitable training and assessment of competency. 
  • Band 2 phlebotomists will be expected to be able to collect samples from paediatric patients
  • Carrying out general departmental duties.
  • To carry out routine stock taking and monitor stock levels.
  • To assist in anticoagulant clinics as required.
