Specialist Physiotherapist/OT Neuro - Fixed Term

We are looking to appoint a passionate, highly motivated, and proactive Specialist Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to join our Neuro Therapy team at Luton and Dunstable Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced therapist to work within the Hyperacute Stroke Unit, Acute Stroke Unit, Neuro Outliers and Neuro outpatients.

High standards of clinical performance are essential  together with good leadership and an interest in developing your managerial potential. 

You will work closely with other band 7 therapy staff in the team to share the responsibility of team management. You will be supported in your role by the Clinical Lead and Therapy Service Lead. 

As a member of our  Stroke MDT, you will work closely with your colleagues to motivate and inspire the team to deliver ongoing high standards of patient centred care.  

The Therapy Department at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital is a dynamic and evolving department. Working in a department, which offers a wide range of experience, you will be encouraged and supported to develop your clinical, teaching, and managerial skills as well as contribute towards service development and service evaluation. The department has a strong commitment to CPD and your ongoing professional development will be supported.

This position is fixed term for 12 months (Maternity leave cover). Applications for between 22.5 - 37.5 hours per week will be considered. 

Previous NHS experience is essential 

 

 

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

  • Provide a high standard of specialist assessments and treatments for patients across our service areas.
  • Use specialist knowledge to make comprehensive referrals for patients moving from the acute setting into the community. 
  • Use strong interpersonal skills to communicate often complex information, to a variety of people including the MDT, community services and service users. 
  • Provide supervision and support to members of the therapy team
  • Plan and motivate the team to be involved in and deliver on quality improvement projects to contribute to service development. 
  • Hold shared responsibility with other Band 7 therapy staff in the team to manage the team, including sickness, annual leave, rotas, performance to standards, supervision, engagement.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/degree in physiotherapy / Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC Registration
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent postgraduate courses/in-service trainings relevant to the clinical field.

  • Evidence of managerial / leadership training.
  • Membership of a specialist interest group

Experience

  • Substantial postgraduate experience, also within the relevant speciality
