Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist looking to develop your skills in paediatrics? Are you looking for a role that offers as well as career development?

Here in the CYPIT team we have the opportunity for an experienced band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our team based in Maidenhead.

You will hold a mixed caseload developing your clinical skills within early years, school age and special schools. You will need to have previous experience working with families from a wide variety of backgrounds and have an understanding of the diverse needs of children and young people.

You will collaborate across a multi-disciplinary team communicating with various parties to ensure that we deliver a seamless service. Understanding of the value of integrated services is essential. You will be expected to act as an ambassador for our service and  will have excellent communication skills ensuring you are calm and confident, dealing with challenging situations.

Working in a passionate team, you will have access to our Trust-wide Learning and Development programme and be supported in your career and personal growth, with opportunities to help you build your Continuing Professional Development portfolio, enabling you to extend your skills and ensure that you excel.

The service operates Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 pm and we are open to both full and part time applications.

  • Take responsibility for a dedicated caseload and clinical role.
  • Carry out clinical assessments within your level of clinical knowledge and skill.
  • Identify relevant therapy needs from which you can develop and deliver an individualised management plan, with support from a senior therapist as needed.
  • Contribute to and deliver training to schools/early years setting, parents, CYP and staff, as part of therapy support and delivery.
  • Contribute to the implementation and development of the impact-based model of clinical decision making.
  • Work collaboratively with education, local authority, medical and nursing staff to ensure delivery of a coordinated integrated service along with Speech and Language Therapy and Physiotherapy colleagues.
  • Opportunity to develop leadership and management skills, overseeing junior staff and students

  • To be a qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration

  • Professional Qualification e.g. Professional knowledge acquired through degree/ diploma supplemented by post graduate diploma specialist training, experience, short courses plus further specialist Training
  • Able to demonstrate required clinical knowledge of up to date Occupational therapy interventions and service issues relevant to Children and Young Peoples service provision.
  • An understanding of the diverse needs of children and young people

Continuous Professional Development

Previous Experience

  • Minimum of 1.5 years’ experience in working with children
  • Experience of undertaking assessment of and supporting children with complex presentations.
  • Experience of supporting CYP in both community and educational settings.

  • Experience with developing and delivering training programmes to support service delivery.
  • Experienced and able to demonstrate a commitment to integrated working and close partnership working with internal and external partners.

  • Evidence of an understanding of the diverse needs of children and young people
  • Able to demonstrate a clinical knowledge and familiarisation with a range of standardised and non-standardised assessment tools relevant to occupational therapy interventions

  • Excellent, succinct written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a calm and confident manner in stressful situations
  • Ability to work successfully as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of current professional and statutory issues
