Job overview
West Berkshire NHS Breast Screening Programme is looking for a highly motivated individual to join their well-established administrative team based at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading. We are a family friendly, flexible multi-disciplinary team providing a first class service to our clients.
The main aim of the role is to facilitate an increase in the uptake of the breast screening programme though SMS messaging and telephone contact with those not attending alongside supporting the administrative coordinators.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in administration and/or customer service and possess excellent communication skills with the ability to manage their own workload.
All interviews will be held face to face in the breast screening department
Main duties of the job
Support the breast screening programme to increase uptake
Ensure that SMS appointment reminders are sent out via DrDoctor at the correct intervals.
Liaise with senior team members regarding the cancellation of clinics/individual patients via Broadcast messages within DrDoctor.
Ensure patients who do not attend their screening appointment receive a message at the correct interval reminding them to book a further appointment.

Assists the Breast Screening Administrative Services Manager to ensure the operation of an efficient and effective administration service that meets the needs of the Breast Screening Service; will include monitoring performance against set targets.
Ensures appropriate and timely prioritisation, delegation and completion of workload duties within the administrative team

Essential criteria
- A levels or equivalent qualifications/experience
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel etc.
Experience
Essential criteria
- evidence of recent administration experience, ideally to include scheduling of appointments, use of databases
- Experience working with the general public in a client facing role
Desirable criteria
- Experience working within a hospital or other healthcare setting
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
