Job overview

We are looking for a CAD and Information Technical Engineer to join our fast paced team.

They need to be proficient with AutoCAD software and the Trust’s Facilities software (Micad).

Undertake ongoing correction and updating of all of the Trust’s AutoCAD drawings, working with the Space Information Manager. Trust drawings cover layout plans, fire plans, space plans, asbestos layouts, and all types of services plans as well as small projects of a varying nature.

Upload CAD and asset information into the Micad system (in-line with BIM standards) to ensure information is available to the wider body of the Trust.

Provide support for the Estates Maintenance Team, Capital Projects Team and Space Utilisation Team. Provide and receive complex, sometimes sensitive information to document within CAD/Micad. Ability to convert complex IT information into understandable language for non-IT persons and other peer groups.

Main duties of the job

Undertake site surveys in all Hospital areas including areas of sensitivity including Mortuary and Theatres etc.

Undertake site surveys in all Hospital areas that have potential hazards such as plant rooms, ceiling voids, roof tops, electrical risers and main incoming switch rooms, high voltage switch rooms etc. 

Ability to review, manipulate/update drawings on an occasional basis. Analyse, investigate and resolve complex queries relating to CAD/Micad systems.

Manage the Micad system ensuring that all content within the modules is accurately kept up to date to assist with reporting. Gather information and data accurately to file ERIC returns.

Implement policies and procedures. Propose changes to either policy or works where relevant due to new working practices, legislation changes, or new reporting processes.

Deliver core training to other staff groups and contractors on the safe and proper use of a variety of specialist software systems.

Regular requirement to develop or create reports, documents or drawings. Responsible for maintaining more than one information system and adapt, design information from these systems to meet the specifications of others.

Undertake equipment testing or adaptation as required.

Work within broad professional policies to advise and act as specialist within this field.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·         To correct and update all of the Trust’s AutoCAD drawings on an on-going basis 

·         Responsible for the upload and maintenance of all Space information data on Micad. This requires Occupancy surveys across all Hospital sites.

·         Provide a CAD and Information service to Trust Departments and third parties outside the Trust which might include privacy & dignity, EPR, major incident, car parking and freedom of information.

·         Carry out Site surveys across the Trust to verify information such as services, physical layouts, occupancy and fire information for the purposes of updating the drawings.

·         To keep all information regarding space utilisation up to date

·         Be willing to be flexible on working hours on occasions, if required. 

·         Ability to prioritise changing workloads.

·         Propose changes to Micad protocols and procedures and contribute to further development of the system.

·         Liaise directly with staff in order to confirm/verify layout/space/services information in order to update our data

·         Undertake space and occupancy surveys. 

·         Provide support on the Micad system to contractors and in-house staff as required.

·         Undertake other appropriate duties as requested by the Asset Information and Lifecycle Manager.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Construction related discipline
  • Equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Full Current Driving License
Desirable criteria
  • University Degree or Higher Level Diploma/Certificate in Construction related discipline

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Functioning knowledge of computer aided design systems
  • Competent in the use of AutoCAD Architecture.
  • Knowledge of CDM Regulations
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety
  • Knowledge & awareness of Estates legislation’s and Regulations
  • Knowledge of HTM's/HBN's

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Completion of a structured training program in Construction related discipline
  • Site experience with surveying abilities
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a large company or Hospital Environment.
  • Experience of working in a re-active & pressurised environment
