Job overview

We are looking for an appropriately qualified person to come and join the Maternity Ultrasound Department and be trained into a qualified sonographer vacancy that we currently hold. Ideally the applicant will already be qualified as a radiographer or midwife, however a nurse with any other relevant background will be considered.

The work within the department, includes obstetric, general gynaecological, fertility and emergency gynaecological examinations.

*This post is being offered under Annex 21 of the NHS Terms and Conditions. The successful candidate will be appointed at a percentage of the Band 6 salary while undertaking the required training and development. On completion of the agreed training and once the required competencies are met, the postholder will progress to the Band 7 salary.

Main duties of the job

Sonographer - Trainee (Maternity)

Train to undertake and interpret diagnostic imaging under supervision.

Formulate and issue clinical reports under supervision. To promote and encourage good effective professional practices in the department by example

To participate under supervision in advanced clinical based practicTo have a professional and courteous manner and always uphold the reputation of the ultrasound department.

Observe confidentiality with respect to the trust patient, staff and NHS information at all.
