Band 6 Experienced Occupational Therapist - Paediatrics
This static post provides an exciting opportunity to join a forward thinking and highly valued therapy team within Paediatrics, based at Dingley Child Development Centre, University of Reading Campus.
The post holder will autonomously manage a complex caseload of inpatient and outpatient children aged 0-18 with a range of physical, developmental and complex neurological conditions and diagnoses. This will involve specialist assessment and management of the caseload and the providing clinical assessment and treatment.

Main duties of the job
To autonomously manage a complex caseload of inpatient and outpatient children aged 0-16 with a range of therapeutic needs. This will involve specialist assessment and management of the caseload and the therapist will provide clinical assessment and treatment.
To be an Occupational Therapist clinical specialising in the management of Paediatrics at the Dingley Child Development Centre and other Trust locations as required.
To work as a member of the MDT supporting the Occupational Therapy team for the Child Development Centre in conjunction with the Band 7 Occupational Therapist and Dingley Therapy Team Lead.
To use specialist occupational therapy knowledge and clinical reasoning skills to provide support and advice to the Paediatric Occupational Therapy team and other healthcare staff, and to manage own caseload of patients with complex conditions as an autonomous practitioner.
To support the delivery of a high quality, effective and efficient paediatric Occupational Therapy service.
To support the Therapy Management team in planning and policy development for the Paediatric Occupational Therapy team.
To deputise for the Paediatric Band 7 Occupational Therapist as required.

Essential criteria
- To have a degree or other recognised qualification in occupational therapy
- Post graduate specialist experience as demonstrated by ongoing CPD , evidence-based project work, post graduate teaching
- HCPC Registered
- Understanding of a broad range of paediatric conditions
- Post-graduate training in the management of conditions
- Experience of teaching and presenting to other staff
- Experience of supervising and developing other staff and students
Desirable criteria
- BSc OT
- Specialist knowledge in related area
- Research or audit experience
- Training and Presentation skills

Essential criteria
- Car driver with UK driving licence, able to drive pool car for home visits
