Band 7 Advanced Optometrist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Optometrists to join our growing Optometry team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and Prince Charles Eye Unit.

Whilst this role is advertised as full-time, part-time applications will be considered for a minimum of 2 days per week.

The workload will involve core optometry including paediatric refraction and contact lenses, as well as extended role work in the macular clinic and eye casualty.

Whilst experience in the macular/retinal and eye casualty services would be preferred, training and support to develop these skills be provided for a suitable candidate.

Support to those wanting to undertake their IP qualification will also be considered.

Please Note: This role requires current GOC Registration.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will join a busy and growing department of 18 consultant ophthalmologists, 16 orthoptists and 6 optometrists. 

Core clinics including paediatric refraction and contact lenses will make up part of this role, however there will be a requirement to undertake sessions in the macular (AMD) service and eye casualty, therefore experience and/or an interest in either of these areas would be beneficial.

Should the successful candidate not have this experience, we will offer support in training.
