Job overview
Paediatrics department are excited to advertise a fixed term full time ward clerk position until end of May 2026 on our bustling Kempton Day Bed Unit/ Paediatric SDEC. This post is a great entry into the NHS as a Band 2 front of house greeter for our paediatric patients attending for day surgery procedures and for those popping up from A&E to our Same Day Emergency Care Unit for a short stay visit.
The successful applicant must have a calm and kind demeanor, want to work with the public and display good IT literacy skills alongside the ability to multi-task activities within a supportive team.
Main duties of the job
- Be the front of house representation for the named ward, meet and greet patients and their families upon arrival using the security door intercom. Ensure that all patients and colleagues are treated courteously at all times in line with customer care standards and Trust values
- Undertake reception duties, checking the patient in using hospital IT systems, communicating with clinical staff of the patient’ arrival and guiding patients and their relatives to waiting areas, if required
- Support nursing and clinical ward team with printing named wrist bands, clinical sheets and other items when requested
- Answering the telephone promptly and efficiently handling a variety of requests in a professional manner upholding the hospitals CARE values throughout the interaction
