Band 6 Experienced Rotational Physiotherapist - MSK & Orthopaedics

We are excited to welcome an experienced and enthusiastic physiotherapist to complete 8 months' rotations between inpatient orthopaedics and MSK Outpatients.

The successful applicant will work onsite at the Royal Berkshire Hospital covering inpatient orthopaedics, across elective and trauma wards, and rotating onto MSK Outpatients in both upper limb and lower limb.

The orthopaedic team offers an extended evening service, with the requirement to work until 20:00 one day per week. 

In MSK Outpatients, you will be required to work a longer shift on a Tuesday, with a half day elsewhere in the week, to cover extended hours of the service.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the efficient, effective and safe management of both male and female patients referred to the physiotherapy team in designated area of work.

To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of own work, including the management of patients in your care. 

To ensure a high standard of clinical practice for patients under your management and to support more junior staff and students to do likewise.

To work at an experienced level by receiving referrals and independently assessing and treating own caseload of patients, ensuring evaluation and progression of treatment programmes to a high standard, and in line with National and Trust clinical guidelines, protocols and pathways where they exist.

To have clinical responsibility for a designated caseload of patients, including those with complex and diverse conditions, and prioritise that work efficiently taking into account clinical and service priorities, using specialist clinical knowledge to underpin decisions.

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential criteria
  • Degree or other recognised qualification in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Registered
  • Post-graduate experience relating to specialist area
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of a wide range of approaches to the management of conditions relating to specialist area
  • Experience of teaching and presenting to other staff
  • Experience of supervising and developing other staff and students
  • Post graduate training in the management of conditions related to specialist area
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of NHS structure

Experience, communication and organisational skills

Essential criteria
  • Previous experience of working in orthopaedics and/or msk outpatients
  • Demonstrates professional independence
