Band 2 Receptionist (CAT 2 Orthoptics)
This is a Fixed Term post for 9 months to cover maternity leave and part-time for 26 hours per week.
PLEASE NOTE: The post will include working shifts between 8am and 8pm.
The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust, Head and Neck Directorate is seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, reliable and hardworking individual to join our Reception teams.

Main duties of the job
Duties include welcoming patients into the departments, preparing patient files for clinic appointments, being the first point of call for patients attending Clinic and arranging follow-up appointments for patients before they leave the department.
The ideal candidate will have strong customer service skills and be willing to multi-task under challenging and busy conditions.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You should have the ability to perform complex administrative functions and will be responsible for receiving patients and visitors attending outpatient clinics taking ownership of escalated administrative issues where appropriate.
The receptionist works in close partnership with medical, nursing and secretarial staff to ensure the smooth running of the outpatients department.

Essential criteria
- GCSE (or equivalent) or above in English Language and Maths
- Knowledge of Microsoft packages
Experience
Essential criteria
- Reception experience within a customer service setting
- Call centre experience
- Experience within an NHS administrative environment
Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
