Receptionist (Florey Sexual Health Clinic)

The Florey Sexual Health Clinic is looking for a full-time band 2 Receptionist to join our busy Reception team.

Reception is the first point of contact within our busy and extremely sensitive service and therefore a friendly, unprejudiced, sympathetic, mature attitude with excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels are essential qualities of the successful applicant.

We are looking for a team player with great communication and excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude towards work.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be a confident and reliable individual who is flexible and who adapts well to change.

This role will involve booking appointments, greeting patients, and carrying out an effective telephone triage booking service.  You will be required to work individually and also within a team. 

To be considered for this post you will need GCSE or an equivalent qualification in English and Mathematics and be computer literate.

Previous NHS experience is not required, but customer-facing experience is desired.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The receptionist will have the ability to perform complex administrative functions and will be responsible for receiving patients and visitors attending outpatient clinics taking ownership of escalated administrative issues where appropriate.

The receptionist works in close partnership with medical, nursing and administrative staff to ensure the smooth running of the outpatients department.

Essential criteria
  • GSCE (or equivalent) or above in Maths and English Language

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience within a customer service setting
  • Experience of note management
  • Previous experience of working with databases and maintaining data quality
Desirable criteria
  • Reception experience
  • Experience within an NHS administration environment
  • Experience of working with clients of differing healthcare needs
  • Experience of working to tight deadlines
