Job overview
Band 3 Senior Home Therapy Dialysis Assistant
This is a part-time post for 20 hours per week.
This post is hybrid- working within the community at the homes of patients, and also based within our Home Therapy team at the Royal Berkshire Hospital site - the service includes visiting the homes of patients across East & West Berkshire.
The majority of your time will be spent within the homes of patients providing practical support / setting up automated peritoneal dialysis (PD) machines and all the clinical care around this.
The renal replacement therapy is carried out either 4 x daily manually, or, overnight by an automated machine.
It is a life saving treatment that is required every day - the service is therefore required to run 365 days a year and so will involve some weekend / bank holiday working.
The roll involves undertaking PD related care - such as machine set ups, observations, patient weights, machine set-ups, blood taking, dialysis related dressings, stock takes.
There is some flexible working, but the care must be provided within the hours of approximately 9am -2pm.
You must hold a current valid UK driving licence as the service is community-based and you must be able to travel the homes of patients across East & West Berkshire.
Main duties of the job
The post doesn't involve any personal care to patients - it is dialysis-related care only.
