Job overview
To work within a team which provides a community-based service to patients and BSMHFT clinical inpatient and community teams who deliver care to patients experiencing co-occurring severe mental illness and problematic drugs/alcohol use.
To develop and upskill patient facing staff to ensure patients experiencing co-occurring severe mental health and problematic substance use receive appropriate assessment of and timely interventions wherever they access BSMHFT care.
To model and work to create a positive attitudinal change, tackling stigma, in the care of patients experiencing co-occurring severe mental health and problematic substance use patient presentations.
This is provided via writing, reviewing and delivering a range of training to clinical patient facing staff alongside supervision and consultation around dual diagnosis and delivery of direct interventions to patients.
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible and accountable in the completion and delivery of activities required within and reflective of the role of Senior Practitioner.
- To provide supervision to COMPASS Wellbeing Practitioner
- To role model positive attitudes in the care of patients presenting with co-occurring mental health and substance experiences and challenge negative, stigmatising attitudes, for patent care and experiences.
- Contribute toward a positive learning and developmental culture for COMPASS and through contact with wider teams to promote professional standards, quality and skill.
- To contribute towards developing and building effective relationships between COMPASS, BSMHFT clinical services and external partners.
- To act and represent COMPASS in meetings as required and in absence of Hub Manager/Clinical Lead.
- Research, write, review and deliver a range of evidenced based training package to inpatient and community patient facing staff and contribute towards the evaluation of training.
- To deliver individual staff and team consultation and supervision in the delivery of Cognitive Behavioural Integrated Therapy (C-BIT) interventions.
- Patient screening, C-BIT assessment and formulation, care planning delivery of interventions in conjunction with care co-ordinators, as required.
