Applications are invited to provide Consultant leadership within our well-established CAMHS East Community Mental Health Team based at Washwood Heath Centre Hub.
You will have a central role within an MDT context in delivering psychiatric assessment and treatment for a caseload of children, adolescents and their families with variable degree of complexity associated with attachment difficulties, mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions, as well as contribute to providing psychiatric and medical risk management in the community.
On a day-to-day basis, as Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be part of the integrated core community Mental Health Services. You will have a close working relationship on clinical matters with multidisciplinary teams and provide important liaison with other doctors in primary and secondary care.
You will offer specialist consultation and peer supervision to Senior Mental Health Practitioners within the clinical team including the supervision of resident doctors.
Applicants must have full registration with the GMC, MRCPsych or equivalent and CCT accreditation in Chid & Adolescent Psychiatry or be within 6 months of obtaining CCT. Experience in CAMHS Psychiatry is essential.
Main duties of the job
You will cover the 0-18 age group for the East team, alongside another CAMHS Consultant.
The successful candidate will also be considered for Quality Improvement Lead status for the Washwood Heath hub and shall be supported by the Service and Clinical Team Managers, as well as other Washwood Heath hub leads, in promoting and overseeing quality improvement activities within the MDT.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act (1983)
- MRCPsych or equivalent
Desirable criteria
- Additional qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, leadership or another relevant field
Training
Essential criteria
- Obtained inclusion on the Specialist Register; or within six months of the award of a Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in CAMHS; or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register
- Commitment to personal programme of Continuing Professional Development.
Desirable criteria
- Broad clinical training including both inpatient and community service
Experience
Essential criteria
- Substantial experience of psychiatry, including working with people suffering from severe mental illness, preferably in a community setting
- Broad range of experience in CAMHS and working with multi disciplinary teams
- Experience of teaching and training at an undergraduate/postgraduate level
- Experience with the treatment of patients with complex mental disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, emotional trauma and emerging personality disorders
Desirable criteria
- Experience serving a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic population.
- Experience of stakeholder engagement in service delivery
- Experience of contributing to or completion of a service improvement project
