Job overview

A full-time vacancy has arisen for an enthusiastic, highly motivated individual to join our small friendly team in the Histopathology Department.

The successful applicant will play an important role providing clerical and secretarial management services for the Medical, Scientific and clerical team within the Histopathology Department.

Main duties of the job

Duties are varied and applicants will possess an RSA/OCR level 2 qualification (or equivalent).  Experience of Microsoft Office packages, outlook, EXCEL is essential previous use of Telepath laboratory computer information system would be desirable, however training may be provided. Audio typing is essential, and you will have experience of communicating with a range of service users at different levels and be able to deal the mortuary issues.  You will be expected to work under pressure and to deadlines.

Essential criteria
  • Recent experience audio terminology
  • Attention and Accuracy to detail
  • Extensive experience and knowledge of MS applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience and knowledge and understanding of medical terminology
  • Qualification or previous experience in a similar role
Desirable criteria
  • Previous Histopathology experience
  • Previous experience with a NHS laboratory computer system
  • Previous use of NHS SBS ordering and procurement
  • Medical Secretary qualification
