Job overview
Responsible for the day-to-day operational management and co-ordination, of a designated team. The post holder will act as a conduit between staff and the Service Clinical Manager, ensuring robust two-way communication.
The post holder will be responsible for the continuing development of the ADHD service. The post holder will provide clinical leadership and expertise by holding a caseload and facilitating appropriate clinics across the city.
The postholder will deputise for the Service Clinical Manager and provide cover for other Team Leaders if required and as agreed.
The post holder will work as a highly skilled practitioner accountable for their own clinical work, using highly specialist knowledge to inform clinical judgements and decision making.
The postholder will act as a source of clinical expertise/advice and guidance for families, carers and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, including Health, Education and Social Care and Health staff.
The postholder will need to have enthusiasm for working in innovative and diverse ways, and be confident to lead a service which is primarily engaging young people and their families in the treatment of ADHD and co-morbidities.
Main duties of the job
Responsible for the day-to-day management and administration of the designated team, including monitoring and authorisation of annual leave, ensuring that there is adequate cover during any planned or unplanned absence (including sickness absence)
Manage study leave, authorising leave and discussing with the Service Operational Managers and Professional Clinical Leads any matters of finance or staff development needs.
Be responsible for the monitoring of attendance at mandatory training, including ensuring robust records are kept, using admin support as appropriate.
Manage short and long term sickness absence, including return to work interviews, monitoring of episodes of sickness absence, and undertaking Stage meetings as appropriate. Be responsible for ensuring that relevant information is inputted into ESR system.
Manage staff performance/disciplinary matters within the designated team, with support from the Service Operational Manager.
Support the Professional Clinical Leads and Service Operational Manager in the development and implementation of an appropriate training programme for members of the team across the locality, using information from appraisals and personal development plans e.g. coordinate local mandatory training in bases.
Take a role in the local implementation and monitoring of clinical supervision/ practice support systems in line with relevant policies and procedures. Ensure accurate records are kept on ESR.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse BSc (Hons)Level 1 RGN or Equivalent
- Evidence of continuing professional development over the last two years
Desirable criteria
- Independent/ Suplementary prescriber (V300) to prescribe medication for ADHD diagnosed patients on team caseload
- ENB 998 or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience and ability to demonstrate sound knowledge of standard setting and audit processes
- Ability to demonstrate individual responsibility in respect of Health and Safety
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of children’s development
- Ability to demonstrate an awareness of Child Protection procedures and issues
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively to clients, their families and other professionals including dealing with sensitive, complex and difficult to receive information, using methods such as written, verbal and non-verbal skills.
- Ability to deliver effective health education programmes to parent/carers, educational settings and other professionals
Desirable criteria
- Extensive experience within children’s services for special educational needs, or learning disability
- Experience of working within and awareness of issues relating to management of ADHD including assessment of highly complex and co-morbid presentations of children, young people, their families and carers within this client group
Skills
Essential criteria
- oUnderstanding of the principles of Equality and Diversity in relation to both staff and service users
- Understanding of the values and vision of the Trust
- Knowledge of the SEND, local authority and NHS drivers and challenges as they affect and impact on service delivery
- Awareness of recent clinical developments and professional issues.
- Proven ability to work independently and to manage the conflicting demands of a clinical and managerial workload
- Proven ability to liaise and work effectively with other professionals and agencies
- Strong negotiating skills
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of NHS HR policies relevant to the support and management of staff
