This post is for Band 4  Nurse Associate. Newly Qualified Nurse Associates welcomed and supported with induction,  development and career progression opportunities.

Posts available: Bournville Team 37.5 hours, Swanshurst Team 26 hours and Sparkgreen Team 21 hours.

We have a fantastic opportunity to join our community nursing teams within Central Locality of Birmingham.

The Nurse Associate will deliver high quality, holistic, compassionate and fundamental patient and client care as part of the nursing team under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on the setting).

We welcome your clinical skills, holistic thinking and ability to collaborate with the wider multi-professional team to shape care for our patients. We are looking for a Nursing Associate that has a breadth of knowledge across the fields of nursing, providing holistic and person centred care and support for people of all ages in a variety of settings. The successful candidate will work independently under the leadership of registered nurses, working within the sphere of nursing

You must have completed  the required the relevant Nurse Associate qualification and possess NMC registration or be a Final year Nurse Associate Student. 

This role requires you to be mobile for community visits so all candidates must have a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

 

Main duties of the job

If you are considering a career outside of the hospital environment then you may opt for a community nursing team. This is a fast paced service with significant demand, we need Nursing Associates who can think independently, make decisions and provide safe high quality holistic care. No two days will be the same, the service is unpredictable and demand is constant. You will be working independently in people’s own homes and clinic settings delivering care planned and evaluated by our Registered Nurses. You need be confident in your own decision making and ready to make a difference in this role.

Service Hours

The service currently operates between the hours of 8am to 6pm over 7 days a week, with potential expansion of hours to 8am to 8pm with future transformation- any changes will be communicated through recruitment or when in post through consultation.

Person specification

Skills/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
  • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
  • Knowledge of when to seek advice and escalate to the appropriate professional
  • Understanding of the importance of following procedures and treatment plans- working as part of MDT under direction of registered nurses

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Clinical experience in line with roles and responsibilities of a Nurse Associate within community nursing
  • Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information
  • Experience or awareness of providing nursing care in a multiculturally diverse city
