We are looking to appoint one part time Facilities Porter on a 37.5-hour contract  to work within our Facilities team at BCHC Foundation Trust. The vacancy will be based predominantly West Heath Hospital, however you may be required to cover other colleagues across sites should the service demand it.  We are one team and our service has to continue for the well-being of the patient.

You will receive a comprehensive training package and support, working with your Site Facilities Co-coordinator, a uniform is also provided.

Main duties of the job

BCHC delivers a range of healthcare services across a number of sites and specialties.

You must attend necessary training courses and adhere to Infection Prevention and Control policies and any other relevant National and Trust policies and procedures. All staff, irrespective of the role they specifically undertake are required to adhere to BHCH’s vision, values and professional standards.

Monday to Sunday: 37.5 hours per week (pro rota) part time to be flexible, including day and night duty, weekends and Bank Holidays.  

Good standard of education to GCSE level and understanding of verbal and written English. Basic literacy and numeracy skills are requirements for this job.  Medical Gas training is required

Qualifications / training

Essential criteria
  • Good standard of education, GCSE level and understanding of verbal and written English. Basic Literacy and Numeracy Skills
  • Level 2 ROSPA Banksman training or a willingness to work towards.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a busy and challenging environment
  • Good communication skills with the ability to manager challenging behaviours.
  • Ability to deal with queries from members of the public.
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of a portering role.

Skills/knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of the following • Health and Safety • COSHH • Security • Basic knowledge of a hospital environment • Medical Gases • Manual Handling
