The post holder will be responsible for creating a robust Business Intelligence and analytical function for the community care collaborative programme.
Main duties of the job
- To support the Community Care Collaborative Programme in effectively delivering its business intelligence components. The aim is to provide more integrated health and care services across local neighbourhoods in Birmingham and Solihull. This approach will make it easier for individuals to access the right care, at the right time and place. It will also help people to maintain their wellbeing and independence for longer, enabling them to stay in their own homes
- To support the Information and Business Intelligence Services Manager in the effective delivery of the Trust information strategy, its information requirements and business intelligence components.
- To work proactively with Community Care Collaborative stakeholders and corporate senior executives to address information needs that support effective service management. This includes engaging with senior stakeholders and clinical leads to understand and deliver on business intelligence requirements
- To work pro-actively with divisions and corporate senior managers to address information needs to effectively manage BCHC’s services. Linking to senior stakeholders and clinical leads to understand business intelligence requirements.
- Present findings, dashboards and statistical information within senior forums or local service meetings to all staff groups, ensuring an understanding of data provided for effective action.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will be responsible for creating a robust Business Intelligence and analytical function that enables staff to understand the effectiveness of services and empowers them to take action.
The post holder will be aligned to the Community Care Collaborative programme be responsible for providing an enhanced analytics service to support the usage of information more effectively, including forecasting, trend analysis, data mining and operational monitoring of activity for service improvement. They will design improved business reports for inclusion within the 1Vision reporting portal and teach non-technical staff how to use these effectively.
The post holder will have the opportunity to influence and develop new Business Intelligence tools and have a flexible and innovative approach to new solutions.
To maintain awareness and advise on availability of information from outside the organisation, such as primary care, community health services, community mental health services, social care and the community and voluntary sector to support relevant managers in using this to improve services and increase income.
To provide leadership and line management to Information Analysts, deliver professional and technical leadership to information staff.

Qualifications / training
Essential criteria
- Business degree / IT Degree or equivalent
- Evidence of continuous professional development
Experience
Essential criteria
- Extensive experience of working with healthcare information to support clinicians and service managers
- Significant experience) working in an informatics environment
- Relevant experience of designing and preparing senior level reports and analysis to support the running of an NHS organisation
- Relevant experience within an Information/ BI field
Skills/knowledge
Essential criteria
- Competent in advance use of MS Office applications, in particular, Word, Excel, Access & PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of statistical/numerical techniques and procedures
- Competent in the use of of Microsoft Analysis Services, T-SQL 2008 at advance level
- Competent in presenting to large groups and formal meetings, in non-technical language
- Confident communicator in terms of divisions, IT specialists and a variety of corporate staff
- Ability to express oneself clearly in writing
- Good working knowledge of data warehouse technology including OLAP and report writing, analysis methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills and strong influencing and persuasion skills
- Ability to manage and prioritise own workload
- Ability to be a team player
- Ability to be self-motivated and proactive
