Job overview
The post advertised is a rotational Band 5 Occupational Therapist. This is to cover maternity leave for 12 months. The rotations are six months each to cover: Brain Injury Inpatients, Brain Injury out patients, Stroke rehabilitation, and Sub Acute general medicine short stay rehab.
The candidate will commence post in any of one the above areas.
Main duties of the job
These rotational posts offer an exciting opportunity to gain experience working in a rewarding environment with a wide variety of medical clinical conditions e.g. Frailty,Parkinson's, Amputees, Dementia, Falls and Fractures and also within specialist neuro placements; brain injury in / out patients, plus stroke rehab.
All areas focus on client-centered practice with a holistic approach, and you will gain skills and knowledge in both general and specialist OT intervention.
We fully support continued professional development with a wide variety of training options, including a monthly Inservice Training program, regular clinical supervision and opportunities to develop wider knowledge and skills through participation in Service Development projects.

Good communication skills are essential, and there will be opportunity to participate in an In-Service Training programme and to supervise junior staff within the service.

- Relevant experience of the Occupational Therapy process during Fieldwork Education and Work
- Documenting evidence of continuing professional development
Skills and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Basic Knowledge of health legislation and current practice
- Demonstrate an understanding of the OT process
- Demonstrate the use of a problem solving approach
- Basic knowledge of the principles of clinical governance
- Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance
Personal Qualities
Essential criteria
- Innovative, creative
- Strong communicator

- Ability to manually handle clients and equipment and to attain positioning necessary to perform safe and effective clinical interventions.
