A rare and exciting opportunity is now available for you to join our Deaf Community Recovery Team. As a Community Recovery Worker you will support our patients holistic needs within a community catchment area covering a third of England. We are a National  Deaf tertiary Service  blended with a 12 bed mixed  inpatient ward based at the  The Barberry. 

Main duties of the job

  •  To provide individual support to the Deaf Service users within both inpatient and  community settings, in their own homes to promote their Mental Health recovery and  independence.
  •  To support transition to discharge from the inpatient ward and             facilitate joint working.
  •  To positively promote the independent living of service users within the community, facilitate social and leisure activities for service users and to focus on their direct needs.
  • To work across across boundaries of care to promote social inclusion and independence and maximise the effectiveness of services within available resources.
  • To assist in the provision of quality evidence-based practice, providing advice and  support and care for service users with health and social care needs, and their carers  within multidisciplinary setting within a wide  defined catchment area/locality.
  •  To be responsible for scheduling and facilitation of therapeutic recovery focused  interventions for Deaf BSL users in groups and individually under the supervision of  Clinical Nurse  Specialist and Team Manager
  •  Assist in the development and provision of the Deaf Service and working with various  organisations to promote the service users recovery.
  •  Responsible for organising travelling across an extensive catchment area to meet  service users within their own communities.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ level 2, plus significant and demonstrable care experience in an NHS or Private Health Care setting Or NVQ level 3 in Health Care Native/fluent BSL user or BSL level 2 qualification
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ level 3 BSL Level 3

Experience

  • Experience of working within Deaf Services

  • Experience of working within a community mental health team
