Job overview

We have an exciting vacancy that have arisen for a 12-month fixed term Band 7 Psychological Therapist within our Specialist Perinatal Community Mental Health Services.  This post is suitable for individuals who hold a CBT diploma or Masters qualification and are accredited with the BABCP.  

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated qualified High Intensity CBT Therapists to join a growing and evolving perinatal service.  Ideally, applicants will have experience of working with clients with severe and enduring mental health difficulties, but we are able to provide training to help develop skills within these areas.  The post-holders will be part of multi-professional teams supporting the Transformation of our Community Services in BSMHFT as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. 

We would welcome applications from those looking to build upon their clinical skills within the perinatal period but can show an interest in the area.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for enthusiastic, committed and skilled clinicians who can work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, to provide a range of clinical services.

The individual will have excellent opportunities to gain experience of multilevel and integrated service provision and to further develop skills of complex case assessment, formulation and the application of evidence based psychological interventions, both individual and in groups.

You should have experience of working with service users with complex mental health and behavioural needs.

It is preferable that you have experience of working with service users during the perinatal period; however we will offer training to help develop skills within this specialist area.

Training and Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • A specialist post-graduate (or equivalent) qualification in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) i.e. MSc, or Post Graduate Diploma. For trainee post to be enrolled on one of these courses or willing to complete a postgraduate course.
  • Accredited with BABCP
Desirable criteria
  • A qualification, or have undertaken a program of formal training in Clinical Supervision (e.g. completion of a specialist Clinical Supervision Module)
  • Additional qualifications in an accredited therapy
  • Registered health or social care qualification- RMN, OT, Social Worker etc (For Band 6 post) OR Accreditation with BABCP (For Band 7 post)

Knowledge and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Relevant post registration experience working in mental health services
  • Skills and experience of working with, assessing, planning, co-ordinating and supporting people with mental health problems in a community setting around a range of emotional/mental health, behavioural /additional health or developmental needs / substance misuse needs.
  • Experience of working with people with complex and challenging presentations
Desirable criteria
  • Skills and knowledge in utilising specific assessments and outcome measures.
  • Experience of working with people with complex and challenging presentations during the perinatal period

Personal

Essential criteria
  • Demonstrate a commitment to personal development including ability to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users, in own personal and professional development and in supervision.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of clinical/managerial/academic supervision.
Desirable criteria
  • Personal experience of mental health difficulties (self, family or friends).

Other

Essential criteria
  • Ability to teach and train others, using a variety of complex multi-media materials suitable for presentations within public, professional and academic settings
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working within a multicultural framework.
