Job overview
This post is a great opportunity for an experienced clinical research practitioner (or equivalent) and line manager to take a step into a leadership role and support the R&D Performance and Delivery Manager in delivering the NIHR clinical trials portfolio. The post holder will provide leadership to the Research Delivery Team, supporting all staff in delivering an allocated portfolio of studies to time and target; designing and supporting on strategies and systems for attracting research to the Trust, increasing participant recruitment; and ensuring that studies meet the requirements of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) objectives. They will lead by example in managing and delivering a mixed portfolio of NIHR portfolio and academic research studies to time and target; acting as study lead from set-up to close down. Acting as an expert resource in their area, they will work across the Trust to develop recruitment strategies to continuously improve and increase the delivery of portfolio research projects across Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Main duties of the job
· The post holder will lead on identifying and delivering portfolio research both as a team leader and for their own designated portfolio of studies. Supporting the Performance and Delivery Manager to find new suitable studies from the CRN portfolio and to assess the feasibility of studies when the Trust is approached to undertake.
· Working closely with the Performance and Delivery Manager, the post holder will contribute to the delivery of the Research & Development Teams objectives and strategy; and to operational plans to embed research as core business within the Trust.
· The post holder will act as line manager for non-clinical members of the delivery team and will ensure ‘smart’ allocation of resource to support portfolio and commercial study delivery ensuring studies meet or exceed their recruitment targets.
· Support staff in reaching targets for recruitment and in re-evaluating strategies for recruitment where projects are underperforming, increasing participant recruitment to research studies throughout the Trust.
