Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Audiology team at Birmingham Children's Hospital.  You will be working alongside Audiology professionals with a wealth of experience and the role will be very varied.  The department boasts newly refurbished testing rooms and a friendly working environment with a team passionate about Paediatric Audiology and delivering a quality service for our families.

Main duties of the job

Perform Pure Tone Audiometry to BSA standards

Visual Reinforcement Audiometry / Performance Audiometry

Hearing aid assessments and reviews on children 0-16 years to include Bone Conduction, BAHA and BTE aids performing Real Ear Measurement or RECD as standard

Opportunities for further development to include HTS modules as required

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • BSc in Clinical Audiology or equivalent experience
  • Evidence of additional post-graduate training in Paediatric Audiology (or equivalent experience)
  • CAC or BAAT part II (or equivalent)
  • Strong audiological and scientific background
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • HCPC or AHCS registration
Desirable criteria
  • MSc in Clinical Audiology

KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of auditory habilitation and its instrumentation including hearing aids, FM systems and other hearing aids such as Bone Anchored, Bone Conduction and Assisted Listening Devices
  • Successful experience of multidisciplinary and inter-agency working
  • Active role in research and audit projects
Desirable criteria
  • Significant post qualification experience paediatric clinical audiology
  • Experience of working with infants and children with highly complex needs and their families e.g. a combination of medical, sensory, cognitive, physical
  • Experience in supervising and training clinical professionals
  • Experience of teaching and giving presentations

ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT SKILLS

Essential criteria
  • Ability to make judgements involving complex facts which require the analysis, interpretation and comparison of a range of options
Desirable criteria
  • Able to deliver a broad range of highly specialised, complex and non-routine scientific work

PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

Essential criteria
  • Good level of IT skills to include word processing, use of spreadsheets and databases
  • Able to use a VDU for extended periods of time
