Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Cancer Services team at Birmingham Children's Hospital for a Cancer MDT Team Leader.  As an integral part of the Cancer Services team, you will provide support and leadership to the paediatric MDT and cancer data management function, ensuring all MDTs run smoothly and be responsible for all aspects of mandated data collection and reporting.  Please note this post is to provide maternity cover either as fixed term or as a secondment.

Main duties of the job

Based at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, the Cancer MDT Team Leader will be responsible for the day-to-day management of MDT and cancer data management staff.  As a key member of the Cancer Services team, the postholder will both support and oversee the co-ordination and administrative management of Multidisciplinary (MDT) team meetings within paediatric oncology and haematology, ensuring outcomes are recorded accurately for children, teenage and young adult cancer patients and all cancer pathways are monitored in accordance with national guidelines. The postholder will be responsible for the collection of data for all mandated cancer datasets including Cancer Waiting Times performance targets (CWT), Cancer Outcomes and Services datasets (COSD), Systemic Anti-Cancer Dataset (SACT) and Specialised Services Quality Dashboards (SSQD).

The postholder will establish key working relationships with MDT Lead Clinicians and all members of the administrative and clinical teams including nursing and medical staff, allied health professional and support workers as well as liaising with a range of staff internally across the Children’s Hospital and with external NHS Trusts.

The postholder will also be responsible for reporting on cancer information both within and external to the Trust and will work closely with operational colleagues to ensure that paediatric cancer patients receive treatment in accordance with local and national targets.
