Job overview

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated Cardiographer to join our very busy, dynamic and continually expanding Heart Investigation Unit at Birmingham Children's Hospital. This position is ideally suited to someone who is looking to move into a clinical role or someone who is interested in a secondment to learn more about cardiology.

The successful candidate will be someone who has either worked in paediatric cardiology before or has a desire to work with children. They will be excited about cardiology, wanting to work in a dynamic team and enthusiastic to work alongside some of the leading specialists in congenital heart disease, inherited cardiac conditions and cardiac imaging.

Since February 2017, we were officially launched as Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust. Our vision is a world-leading team providing world-leading care, our goal is to provide the best place to work and be cared for, where research and innovation thrives, creating a global impact. To do this we have 3 values: Ambitious, Brave and Compassionate.

Birmingham Children's Hospital is the UK's leading specialist paediatric Centre, caring for sick children and young people up to the age of 16. Rated as Outstanding by the CQC in November 2019, we are a world leader in some of the most advanced treatments, complex surgical procedures and cutting-edge research and development.

Main duties of the job

We have a national liver and small bowel transplant Centre and are a global Centre of excellence for complex heart conditions, the treatment of burns, cancer and liver and kidney disease.

The department offers a wide range of invasive and non-invasive investigations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the recording of ECGs, application of ambulatory ECG/BP monitors and assisting with Physiologist-led Exercise tolerance testing (subject to experience). The role also includes basic administration, general housekeeping and supporting senior colleagues to include all grades of Physiology staff and clinical support worker in ensuring the smooth running of a high quality service to patients and their families. The candidate will be supported in obtaining their Certificate in Electrocardiography, if not already held.

There may be a potential for a full time position in the near future.
