Job overview

To provide secretarial, administrative and clerical support to Clinical staff in the care of Clinical Genetic patients.


The post holder will provide support to the secretarial/admin team ensuring patient quality standards are maintained.

Main duties of the job

To be the unit support in administration process and computer systems:

 Providing support where appropriate to colleagues during induction and on-going training

Identifying and reporting ways of improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the functioning of an office/system to team leader

 Ensure that the standard operating procedures are followed without compromise to patient care

Owing to the changing nature of the service, the duties and responsibilities within posts and the obligations placed upon post holders will inevitably vary and develop. In view of this, the job description will need to be reviewed and subsequently may be altered. Any resulting changes will be subject to consultation with the post holder. There will be a regular review of this job description, which as a minimum will be carried out annually by the responsible managers and the post holder

Qualifcations

Essential criteria
  • English Language at Grace C or above
  • NVQ L2 in Business Admin or equivalent admin experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Access
  • Experience in administration and receptionist duties
  • Manage own workload
  • Planning and organisation skills
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a Health Care setting or similar setting
