Job overview
We have an excellent opportunity for a Junior Clinical Fellow to join our Inpatient Mental Health Service based at Parkview Clinic in Moseley, Birmingham to work collaboratively with a professional, highly skilled multi-disciplinary team. The suitable applicant will be involved in the assessment and diagnosis of psychiatric aspects of children’s presentation and in delivering psychiatric treatment where appropriate within an overall management package and provide medical support to the medical team and the wider Mental Health team Working collaboratively with colleagues to further develop and improve the service

Main duties of the job
· Attending weekly MDT meetings
· Attending CPA meetings
· Contributing to liaison and communication with families and other involved agencies.
· To provide medical support to the medical team and the wider Mental Health team Working collaboratively with colleagues to further develop and improve the service
· Undertake medical duties when required on the Inpatient wards
· Perform duties in the occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant in consultation, where practicable, with the doctor's colleagues both senior and junior.
· Contributing to the assessment, formulation and development of treatment plans for young people with mental health problems admitted to Parkview.
· Being involved in the assessment and diagnosis of psychiatric aspects of children and young peoples’ presentation and in delivering psychiatric treatment where appropriate within overall management packages

Qualifications and Experience
Essential criteria
- Medical Degree from a recognized University
- Full GMC registration
- A minimum of 2 years full time post graduate training (its equivalent gained on a part time basis) or equivalent experience and competencies
- Evidence of achievement of Foundation competencies in line with GMC standards/Good Medical Practice
- A Minimum 1 year experience in the field of Psychiatry, out of which at least 6 months are in CAMHS
Desirable criteria
- Other Educational Qualification (ALS/APLS/ATLS)
Skills
Essential criteria
- All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are competent to enable effective communication with patients, carers and colleagues
- Has understanding of the importance of communication within a clinical setting

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
