Inherited Metabolic Disorder and Research and Development Coordinator

A post has arisen in the Inherited Metabolic Disorders (IMD) R&D team to cover a 12 months maternity leave vacancy.  You will work alongside a colleague to manage patient data relating to the clinical research outcomes of patients cared for with Metabolic disorders.

You will be involved in all aspects of clinical trials, including research study set up for IMD and Neurology studies

Responsibilities include research study set up in partnership with R&D, including supporting teams with study submissions to appropriate parties , including REC, IRAS submission and internal hospital departments for approvals.   

Overall day to day coordination of trial patients activities in compliance with UK regulations, developing study documentation, organising visits and coordination in collaboration with the Lead Nurse, Consultants, Principle investigator and Sub investigators. 

Organising trial meetings , supporting monitoring visits and maintenance of research database and records.

Assuring that appropriate costings are within study set up, tracked for invoicing and assisting the finance team. 

You will work closely with the multi disciplinary team and many internal departments, to give children and their families a positive research  experience.

Qualifications

  • NIHR Good Clinical Practice Trained
  • A Degree or Equivalent experience within Research

Knowledge & Nature of Experience

  • Previous experience in setting up and coordinating research studies ranging from basic registries to clinical phase I/II/III trials
  • Experience of MHRA/ REC and HRA processes
  • Experience in Research Database administration
  • Experience of a patient focused environment within a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge of clinical trial protocols and their application in practice
  • Knowledge of current national systems and structures for approval, management and monitoring of clinical research in the NHS
  • Practical knowledge of the governance and legislative framework for conducting clinical research studies, including Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

  • Previous experience in Research Grant/ Commercial study costing processes Knowledge of the Data Protection Act in relation to research and clinical care
  • Knowledge of patient administration systems
  • Knowledge of medical terms and conditions
