Job overview

The post holder will participate in the management of and be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of clinical care for the patients they transfer. They will co-ordinate care of the patient providing clear professional leadership and ensuring effective communication

To deliver high standards of intensive care transport  nursing in partnership with children, young people and families in a safe and professional environment 

To be responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of care to children and young people and their families/carers during the transport process.

To positively contribute to the achievement of the service and Trust wide objectives 

Engage in preceptorship and development of all junior staff, and supervise and teach staff and students, and to take charge of the ward on a shift to shift basis

To adhere to Trust policies and procedures

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC Registered Nurse
  • Nationally recognised Intensive Care Nursing Qualification
  • Teaching & Assessing Qualification or equivalent
  • Basic Life support Resuscitation Qualification
Desirable criteria
  • Evidence of continued professional development related to NICU/PICU transport
  • Educated to Degree Level or working towards (health related subject or equivalent level of experience)

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Band 5 experience within a tertiary intensive care
Desirable criteria
  • Recorded experience of working on a NICU/PICU transport Service

Analytical and professional

Essential criteria
  • Excellent communication skills, building team relationships quickly in a fast paced environment
  • Organisational Skill
  • Assertive and Diplomatic

Personal Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Able to plan and prioritise daily workload to ensure high quality and safe care for children and young people
  • Good time management skills
