Main duties of the job

You will be part of both the pharmacy the medicines admission team on the Paediatric Admissions Unit (PAU) and Clinical Decisions Unit (CDU).

BWC Pharmacy Department is a busy department dealing with a wide range of specialties from general paediatrics to highly specialised services. We pride ourselves on being a friendly department within a welcoming Trust with many opportunities to develop your skills, explore new ways of working and be at the forefront of new technologies. We have strong links with academia and strongly support individuals at all levels looking to progress in education and research.
The post holders will be expected to participate in the on-call, extended hours, weekend and regular core duty rotas as appropriate.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- MPharm or equivalent degree.
- Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacist.
- Post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience.
Desirable criteria
- Membership of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.
- Pharmacist Independent Prescriber.
Knowledge and Nature of Experience
Essential criteria
- Appropriate post-qualification experience.
- Experience of report writing.
- Experience of working across organisational boundaries.
- Appreciation of the relationship of the Department of Health, Public Health England and individual providers and commissioning organisations.
- Good oral and written communication skills for a variety of audiences including patients, parents and healthcare professionals.
Desirable criteria
- Experience within paediatric pharmacy.
- Experience of developing business cases.
Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge

- Computer literacy including the ability to use Office applications such as Word and Excel.

- Experience of undertaking drug usage reviews and audit.
- Experience of preparing drug evaluations.
- Experience of formally interacting with senior clinicians and management.

- Sound knowledge of current national standards and guidelines relevant to the safe prescribing of high risk medicines.

- Ability to persuade senior staff of the respective merits of different options, innovation and new opportunities.
