Main duties of the job

This post is responsible for the leadership and strategic development of the pharmacy research and development pharmacy service across the Trust, including education and training within research. It is also 
responsible for supporting the Associate Chief Pharmacist for R&D with the overall governance of clinical trials in Pharmacy, ensuring regulatory and statutory requirements are met. 
The post holder will ensure standards agreed for the clinical trial pharmacy service are met, ensuring performance is monitored and that services are provided efficiently, to the required GCP standards, and in 
accordance with the needs of users. 
The post holder will be required to be a key member of Trust R&D multidisciplinary groups and represent the Trust at external system wide meetings.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services and BTC (or equivalent)
  • Registered with the GPhC as a Pharmacy Technician
  • Accuracy Checking Technician Award

Knowledge and nature of experience

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and experience of working in pharmacy clinical trials
  • Experience of leading a team
  • Experience of line management
  • Experience of working in a hospital pharmacy
  • Experience in procedure, policy and guideline writing
  • Understanding of GCP and implementation within pharmacy services
  • Knowledge of local and national developments including legislation related to GCP and clinical trials
  • Ability to review resources to ensure pharmacy provision of safe services
  • Ability to identify and manage risks
  • Experience of providing training and supervision of staff
  • Experience of reviewing finances and generating reports
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Experience or knowledge of hospital electronic prescribing systems
  • Experience of service development
