Job overview
· To provide high quality of care to all patients.
· Supporting and assisting all members of the multidisciplinary team and working to ensure that Birmingham Women’s is the best place to be cared for.
· To maintain at all times a caring and professional attitude towards the needs of patients.
· To liaise closely with medical and nursing staff and medical secretaries, to ensure clinics are conducted effectively and efficiently.
· Rotation to other departments within Gynaecology may be required.

Main duties of the job
The role will include:-
To set up clinical rooms daily/sessions for clinics appropriately
To check equipment prior to clinics commencing.
To assist in the daily cleaning and preparation of equipment and the processing of dirty equipment and linen disposal correctly.
Assist the department manager in ensuring stock levels are maintained.
Chaperone nurses and doctors as required with examinations and minor procedures, support patient
throughout the procedure emotionally.

QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Care certificate
- GCSE Maths, English or equivalent NVQ
- Experience in an Acute setting
Desirable criteria
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting
KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Be able to escalate problems when required and report back to supervising registered practitioner
- Good communication skills
- Willing to undertake additional training as required
- Able to demonstrate sensitive and empathetic approach to patients in treatment
ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT SKILLS
Desirable criteria
- Ability to analyse working environment eg stock levels and to resolve or escalate as appropriate.
- Ability to assess behaviors of service users and escalate to supervisory staff as needed.
PERSONAL SKILLS / ABILITIES AND ATTRIBUTES

- Excellent verbal and listening communication skills Able to work well in a team, work reliably and safely under indirect supervision
