We are offering an exceptional opportunity to join a well-established and dynamic Multidisciplinary Pain Management team within the Sandwell and West Birmingham community, serving a population of over 530,000 people.
About the Role
You will become part of a friendly, supportive, and forward-thinking team comprising of Pain Consultants, Nurse Specialists, Clinical Pain Psychologists and Advanced Pain Physiotherapy Practitioners. Together, we deliver high-quality, patient-centred pain management services across several key sites, including:
- City Health Campus (primary base)
- Lyng Centre for Health
- West Bromwich Leisure Centre
- Sandwell Health Campus
- The new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital
Some flexible and remote working may also be possible.

About You
You will be a passionate and experienced practitioner committed to improving patient outcomes through expert assessment, evidence-based interventions, and collaborative multidisciplinary care. You should have broad clinical knowledge relevant to pain management and be confident working autonomously in a variety of clinical settings.

Main duties of the job

Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments for individuals living with chronic pain.

Request, interpret, and act upon diagnostic tests to support clinical decision-making.

Develop, implement, and manage individualised treatment plans tailored to patient needs.

Deliver a range of evidence-based interventions within your professional scope of practice

Contribute actively to the delivery and development of group-based programmes

Provide clinical consultation and collaboration with other members of the multidisciplinary team through joint working.

Play an active role in service development, quality improvement projects, and relevant research initiatives.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
An Advanced Pain Physiotherapy Practitioner (APP) is a highly skilled and experienced clinician who has developed advanced knowledge and expertise in the field of pain management. Serving as a senior member of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), the APP plays a critical role in assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients with complex pain conditions. They are empowered to make autonomous, high-level clinical decisions and contribute significantly to the delivery of specialist pain management services.

Essential criteria
- Significant post registration experience
- Demonstrable experience in a senior clinical role with leadership experience
- Relevant experience in Teaching and assessing
Desirable criteria
- Experience of initiating/designing clinical audit and/or research studies
- Experience of change management and participating in quality improvement projects
- Experience of writing/implementing protocols/guidelines
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Current HCPC registration
- MSc degree or working towards with imminent completion
- Recognised post-registration course in pain management and/or comparable experiential learning
- Completed (or able to provide evidence of/or willing to work towards) Higher Education courses in the following 4 areas: — Physical assessment — Clinical diagnostics — Independent non-medical prescribing — Advanced practice - to include accredited completion of practice portfolio demonstrating competence in all the specialised theoretical and practical components
