Advanced Cardiac Physiologist - CRM, Arrhythmia and Intervention

NHS AfC: Band 7

Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust is a friendly, integrated healthcare provider focused on improving the life chances and health outcomes of our diverse population.

We have three strategic objectives:

People: To cultivate and sustain happy, productive and engaged staff;

Patients: To be good or outstanding at everything we do;

Population: To work seamlessly with partners to improve lives;

We run services from Sandwell, City and Rowley Regis Hospitals, Birmingham & Midland Eye Centre, Birmingham Treatment Centre, the Lyng and Leasowes Intermediate Care Centre. Our GP practices and community teams provide care in schools, healthcare centres and at home.

Our next milestone is opening the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH), a once in a career opportunity to shape care transformation within and beyond the hospital walls.

Developing and caring for our People is fundamental. We were one of the first Trusts to provide the Real Living Wage, as well as a Live and Work scheme to support people at risk of homelessness into paid work and training. We offer a range of staff benefits, health & wellbeing support and will help you to bring your ambition to life through our bespoke training and development programmes. As “People” is one of our three strategic objectives, we make a continued commitment to prioritise support for all our colleagues.

Healthcare services have a significant impact on the environment. We are committed to embedding sustainable practices. We expect all colleagues to support the delivery of our Green Strategic Plan and to drive positive changes in their department.

Job overview

We are looking to recruit a motivated, enthusiastic  and experienced Advanced Cardiac Physiologist within our CRM, Arrhythmia and Interventional Cardiology teams. They should hold full BHRS or equivalent accreditation.

The post would also suit an experienced Specialist Cardiac Physiologist who is looking to further develop their CRM, Arrhythmia and Interventional Cardiology skills. Support will be given to achieve accreditation. Salary would be adjusted dependent on qualifications and experience.

This is a permanent post. Applicants will need to demonstrate proven competency in CRM, Arrhythmia and Interventional Cardiology.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this post are to work independently with a high level of skill and autonomy at an advanced level performing  basic and complex device implants and follow up clinics (F2F and remote), perform a technical role during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures which includes participating in the 24/7 on-call team, perform tilt tests and Exercise tolerance tests. Full details within the job description.

Working for our organisation

This is an exciting time to join our team, as we are expanding and improving our services. We are currently a dual site department, City and Sandwell hospitals. Our third site, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital, will be opening in 2024, providing three catheter labs and bringing together all acute services onto one site.

We have weekly review and teaching meetings attended by one or more consultants, registrars, cardiac physiologists and junior staff. All physiologists are encouraged to attend relevant course/meetings, as continued professional development is important to our team and post-graduate exams are actively encouraged.

We achieved IQIPS accreditation in 2019. Patient experience is particularly important to us, in our location we are lucky to be exposed to a diverse patient population. You will be able to gain experience of many different cardiac pathologies and will work in a multi-disciplinary team of over 50 staff.

 We are able to offer flexible working hours,  8am to 6pm, four days per week with a fixed day off (following a two month settling in period), or 9am to 5pm five days per week. We would be happy to accommodate weekend working, if this is desirable.
