Job overview
Are you a newly qualified pharmacist looking for your next challenge and keen to experience a further range of clinical specialties?
We are looking for someone with drive, enthusiasm and commitment. You will have excellent people skills and the ability to work with and
influence staff at many levels. You will have a keenness to use clinical and professional knowledge, skills and experience to improve patient care through the delivery of efficient medicines management services at the new acute hospital, the Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH).
The role will allow you to gain the skills and experience to meet the requirements of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society Foundation
Framework and will provide you with a e-portfolio of evidence for further career progression alongside our departmental Education and Training team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide high quality pharmaceutical services to key areas on rotation as well as contributing to core ward commitments,
including weekend and on call services.
There will also be opportunities to gain leadership skills by co-ordination of specific teams of the clinical pharmacy service, alongside participation
in Trust projects and departmental governance objectives within set rotations.
Working for our organisation
Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust (SWB) is an integrated care organisation with a budget of approximately £600 million and over 7,000
staff. Diversity and social care is at the core of what we do as the Trust provides Community and Acute Services to over half a million people in an urban centre that demands massive regeneration and has substantial premature mortality.
Our new acute hospital, MMUH has now opened and will continue to provide care to our local population from first class, purpose-built premises. As a result, the department now works across multiple sites where MMUH is the base of this role. If cross site if needed to complete a set rotation and this is applicable to your role, you will be informed during the recruitment process and continuing your application with this understanding.
The development of services within the new hospital now plays an important role in the regeneration of the wider area and in improving the lives of local people and reducing health inequalities.
SWB continues to strive to deliver our three strategic objectives:
1. Our People – to cultivate and sustain happy, productive and engaged staff
2. Our Patients – to be good or outstanding in everything we do
3. Our Population – to work seamlessly with our partners to improve live
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Pharmacy is a progressive department, keen to embrace innovative ideas to better improve our clinical service model.

Robotic dispensing is well established, now including an out of hours on call shute and we have successfully implemented Electronic Prescribing
and Administration throughout the Trust for a number of years now.
We are working towards innovative models of delivering clinical pharmacy services as part of our 7 day working plans.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills; you must be able to manage your own workload, direct & supervise others and work as part of a team.
Post holder will be supported by the internal Education and Training team as well as accredited medicines management trained technicians to
