Estates Mechanical Technician

Job overview

To undertake all advanced/complex mechanical maintenance covering:

  • Day to day defects
  • Planned preventative maintenance
  • Installation work/projects 

To carry out maintenance, repair works, installation and minor improvements.  Duties will be carried out at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust and any property or premises associated with The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust.

Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient and cost-effective maintenance and repair service.

Undertake appointed Competent Person (CP) roles after appointment by the trusts Authorised Person (AP) as required and in accordance with HTM’s for which additional training will be provided.

Responsible for ensuring timely completion of PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) and reactive works documentation/ recording requirements by use of electronic handheld devices

Carry out installation and improvement work across all contracted sites in accordance with organisational standards and national legislation.

  • HNC/HND/BTEC/ONC in a relevant mechanical engineering subject plus relevant professional experience

  • Experience of working with specialist hospital mechanical systems

Training and Skills

Essential criteria
  • Water safety training – Legionella Awareness. Must have a thorough understanding of L8 regs.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working on Building Management Systems
