Job overview

The Divisional Chief Nurse role is essential to the division to provide strong visible professional nurse leadership.  Promoting excellence in safe clinical care and the implementation of quality priorities and initiatives to improve patient outcomes and experiences.

 

The post is required to oversee and provide professional and clinical leadership and supervision in particular to the CHC/CC teams that are providing the service on behalf of the BCICB under their statutory duties to assess and arrange appropriate care as per frameworks.

Main duties of the job

Clinical & Professional Leadership

·       Provide strong, visible professional leadership within the Division.

·       Provide guidance, support and professional leadership to nursing staff within the Division.

·       Provide guidance, support and nursing expertise across the Division to support integrated commissioning and the provision of evidence-based care, joint funding pathways and quality and performance functions.

·       Ensure the continuous improvement of patient outcomes and experiences, focussing specifically on:

o   Ensuring strategies are in place to deliver measurable and sustainable improvement in quality and safety in line with local and national best practice standards.

o   Identifying improvements and embedding these in all areas of nursing practice.

o   Involvement in the development and building of the professional workforce in line with service needs and the Trust Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Strategy.

o   Development, implementation and evaluation of innovative models of care delivery to address health inequalities and using population health data, meet the changing needs of the people who use services.

Quality, Clinical Governance and Risk Management

·       Lead, manage and monitor the implementation of Trust wide corporate priorities as agreed with the Director of Integration and Chief Nurse.

·       Develop opportunities for individuals and teams to network and share excellence in practice, learning and professional nursing.

Education & Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree / relevant RN professional qualification
  • Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  • Management qualification at Masters level or equivalent experience

SKills and Experience

Essential criteria
  • Highly developed Registered Nurse clinical skills in relevant clinical area
  • Extensive experience at a senior clinical or strategic level in a relevant setting

Experience

  • Experience of managing compliance with Care Quality Commission, Ofsted and Safeguarding legislation
