Job overview
To provide a comprehensive Medical Secretarial service to a Consultant Urologist, Middle Grade Doctors, Clinical Nurse Specialists and supporting teams within the Urology Department. To work collaboratively with other Medical Secretary colleagues to ensure clinically correspondence is produced and distributed designated timescales. The post holder will carry out his/her duties in such a way to make a direct positive contribution to the organisation. It is essential that the post holder should exercise initiative commensurate with the role and that confidentiality be maintained at all times.

To work collaboratively with other Medical Secretary colleagues to ensure clinically correspondence is produced and distributed designated timescales. The post holder will carry out his/her duties in such a way to make a direct positive contribution to the organisation. It is essential that the post holder should exercise initiative commensurate with the role and that confidentiality be maintained at all times.

Skills and Experience
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of NHS Administration procedures
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Demonstrates an excellent understanding of Patient confidentiality
- Exhibits good organisational skills
Desirable criteria
- Proficient in use of Patient Administration System (Oasis)
Education and Qualification
Essential criteria
- Medical Secretary AMSPAR Diploma
- RSA / OCR III in typewriting / word processing or equivalent
- GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics- grade C or above
Desirable criteria
- Business Administration NVQ Level 3 or equivalent experience in a clerical environment
Interests and Motivation
Essential criteria
- Willing to undertake training to meet the requirements of the role in an ever changing NHS
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of researching position applied for

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
