Alcohol Nurse - Secondment

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for band 6 secondment (until June 2026).   We are looking for a passionate, motivated, and dedicated nurse to join the Alcohol Care Team as Alcohol Nurse.

The Alcohol Care Team launched in May 2022 at Dudley Group Foundation NHS Trust and is proud to be part of the Dudley Integrated Liver Service. 

We  deliver our service 7 days a week and you will be expected to work at least one weekend a month. 

The Alcohol Nurse will be supervised by the Senior Alcohol CNS's and training will be given to the new team members. However we are very open to change and always looking at ways to continually improve the ACT, so any ideas will be welcome. 

 

 

Main duties of the job

The Alcohol Nurse will be responsible for creating holistic and person centred treatment plans, referring to any internal / external service that would have a positive benefit the patient, referring and liaising with safeguarding, ensuring that patients alcohol withdrawal is managed as per trust policy, reducing alcohol related admissions and saving bed days by reducing patients length of stay, attend Multidisciplinary Team meetings, be organised and attend outpatient clinics, complete psychosocial interventions with patients, liaise with friends and family, have excellent communication skills, be organised, aware of and complete data, training and educating staff, visitors and patients, event planning, and be up to date with NICE guidelines, policies etc.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • RMN or RGN or other equivalent professional qualification

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of the impact alcohol misuse can have on physical health, mental health and social issues.
  • Significant post registration experience in the speciality of alcohol misuse including experience of detoxification.

Physical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Ability to work shifts across 7 days a week as we expand the services provision
