Job overview

Working under the Rapid access team leader, you will sit within the Cancer Services team and support the Multi-disciplinary Team Co-ordinators (MDT). The post holder will provide an effective administrative support to the Rapid Access Booking Team. 

 

Main duties of the job

In accordance with the Cancer Access policy, assist in the preparation of all documentation associated with the Rapid access referrals.
To book and inform patients of their appointments and re-arrange where
necessary.
Input clinical and non-clinical data onto cancer database ensuring information has been correctly recorded.
Assist in the collection and checking of cancer data, reporting potential breaches to the Rapid Access team leader in line with the Trusts no breach and escalation policies.
Liaise with a wide range of hospital and community-based staff, including primary care (GP practices).

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • GCSE English Language and Mathematics Grade 4 or Equivalent
  • NVQ level 2 in business administration or equivalent relevant experience
Desirable criteria
  • ECDL (European Computer Driving License)
  • OCR/RSA Level 2 in typing or equivalent

Knowledge and Training

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of NHS administration procedures
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs (i.e Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Referral to Treatment pathways knowledge
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience/knowledge of cancer services

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Proficient in the use of hospital administration systems
  • Demonstrates an understanding of confidentiality
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of using PAS system Oasis
