Job overview
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Team Leader to join the Endoscopy team. The post holder should have excellent communication and leadership skills, be enthusiastic and committed to lead and support the administration staff. The post holder is to manage recruitment, performance issues, monitor waiting times, work allocation of staff and management of absence. The post-holder will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive administrative for the department. The post holder will provide leadership to the administrative & secretarial staff within the post holder’s portfolio, which includes but is not limited to managing recruitment, overseeing appraisals and performance issues, management of absence and management of complaints. To be an expert & role model for the administrative team working closely with the Assistant Directorate Manager to ensure a positive working environment where every member of the team is given the opportunity to contribute and develop.
Main duties of the job
To plan the day to day workload and to ensure the workload is carried out efficiently within the required timescales, dependant on the ever changing needs of the service. Monitor the waiting times within the service. To lead on the team’s administrative systems and processes and implement improvements to the service on an on-going basis. To provide a comprehensive administration service to Consultants and support teams. Ensure clinical correspondence is produced and distributed within acceptable timescales. To hold & chair regular team meetings, conduct regular 1:1s, participate in administrative team meetings, service development meetings, and any other relevant meetings across sites as required. To manage recruitment and selection.

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- GCSE's at grade C or above, or equivalent qualification, including maths and english
- Medical secretarial experience
Desirable criteria
- Medical Terminology qualification or equivalent knowledge gained through relevant experience
Knowledge & Training

- Advanced skills in the use of all packages within Microsoft Office i.e. excel & word
- Evidence of contributing to enhancing team performance and leading on service improvements
- Knowledge of waiting list management and 18 week RTT policies and rules
