Job overview

We are looking for a motivated and friendly individual to join our Imaging team, supporting our radiographers, sonographers, consultants, &, most importantly, our patients. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong customer service background who thrives in a busy healthcare environment.

As part of our team, you will play a vital part in ensuring a smooth and positive experience for every patient accessing our services. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct patient care & delivering outstanding customer service

  • Supporting clinical staff across a range of imaging services

  • Undertaking essential IT and administrative tasks

  • Carrying out portering duties as required

  • Helping maintain an efficient patient care pathway


We are seeking a team member who can demonstrate:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication & customer care skills

  • The ability to remain calm under pressure & efficiently prioritise workload

  • Confidence working independently & using your own initiative

  • Previous experience working with the general public (essential)

  • Good computer literacy and strong keyboard skills (essential)

  • A positive, flexible approach to working within a 7-day service


This role involves variable length shifts, covering the full 7-day service including bank holidays. Flexibility is key, as shift patterns vary and are not fixed. You will rotate between the main acute hospital site and our Community Diagnostic Centres.

Main duties of the job

This is a varied and hands-on role, providing essential support to specialist teams across the Imaging Department.

As a Radiographic Aide, you will work alongside staff in X-ray, Ultrasound, Interventional Radiology, Fluoroscopy, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, CT, and MRI. You will play an active part in delivering high standards of patient care throughout these areas.

You will be a valued member of the team, helping to maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment in line with infection control guidelines. Your duties will include:

  • Escorting patients to and from imaging areas

  • Providing routine patient care and support

  • Assisting clinical teams with day-to-day tasks to ensure a high-quality service

  • Arranging appointments for imaging examinations

  • Monitoring and maintaining stock levels to support the smooth running of the department

Your contribution will help ensure that patients receive an efficient, compassionate, and seamless diagnostic experience.

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Grade C or above in maths and English or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • NVQ 2 in a care based award or level 2 diploma in health care support/ multiple years of experience
