We’re excited to offer an opportunity to become part of our dedicated team as a Band 2 Clinical Support Worker on our Neonatal Unit. At Russell's Hall Hospital, we place babies and their families at the heart of everything we do providing holistic, compassionate, and individualised care.

Main duties of the job

Provide high standards of cleanliness within Neonatal Unit.
Be responsible for the safe storage of equipment and consumables 
To be responsible for environmental cleaning as per cleaning schedules and comply with audit requirements.
To maintain the safety and security of patients, staff and visitors.
Ensure bed spaces are cleaned on patient discharge and ready to accept timely admissions. 
Ensure bed spaces are re-stocked with equipment as per bed space set up guide.
Maintain and monitor the use of resources and ensure service level is continuous. 
To assist in reducing the incidence of healthcare associated infections and adhere to the infection control procedures as per Trust Policy.
Assist in the achievement and maintenance of high standards of patient care. 
Work closely with members of the team, recognizing and working within their own capabilities, but always acting in the best interest of the patient and their families. 
Provide support and assistance to the multidisciplinary team when carrying out procedures

Person specification

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • Maths and English qualification – GCSE A-D, or Grade 4-9, or Functional Skills Level 1
  • Care Certificate or ability to complete within 12 weeks of commencing employment
  • QCF/NVQ Level 2 in healthcare or equivalent qualification/relevant experience

Knowledge & Training

Essential criteria
  • Ability to recognise limitations of knowledge and competence and practice within these boundaries
  • Prepared to undergo further training
  • Able to use and update IT systems with patient information
  • An understanding of their role within the team

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to assess safety and wellbeing of others while and referring/escalating to other staff as appropriate
  • Regular contact with bodily fluids when carrying out interventions
  • Frequent moderate/intense effort required for periods of time
  • Experience in a healthcare environment
Desirable criteria
  • Manual handing of patient's, equipment and stores

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of effective communication skills including Verbal Written (legible handwriting) Non-verbal Compassion and respect
  • Ability to communicate appropriately with relatives and / or carers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff / multidisciplinary team
  • Positive and enthusiastic approach to work
  • Courteous and polite

Planning & Organisational Skills

Essential criteria
  • Participation in flexible work patterns / shift working required to provide 24hr service to meet the needs of the service
  • Flexibility to work across the Health Economy
