Job overview

Under the support and guidance of Pharmacy and Practice staff the candidate will undertake routine duties of a mainly technical nature. The post is a training position, and applicants are required to follow the West Midlands Student Pharmacy Technician Training Scheme. The two-year training provides a level 3 Diploma in principals and practice for Pharmacy Technicians and an NVQ 3. Progression to year two of the program is conditional on successfully completing year one and through a structured rotational training program   

The candidate will be based at Dudley Group Foundation Trust 

Main duties of the job

Evidence competencies in the workplace to achieve apprenticeship and complete the learning organised by the training provider using the allocated weekly study day and self-directed study in personal time. 

Ensure knowledge, attitudes, behaviours and fitness to practice are in line with the General Pharmaceutical Council’s Standards for Pharmacy Professionals during Apprenticeship in order that they can seek a declaration of competence to register.

Person specification

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • GCSE in Math's, English and Science (at C or above) and 3 other subjects at a minimum of grade C
  • Pharmacy Services QCF Level 2 or equivalent with 12 months current experience and hold a functional skills level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in Maths and English
  • Three “A” levels, one of which is a relevant science subject and Math's C (GCSE or equivalent)
  • Degree in science or humanities and Math's C (GCSE or equivalent)
  • Candidate meets apprenticeship criteria

Knowledge & training

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge and training in a pharmacy or healthcare profession

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working in a Pharmacy
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience working in a hospital pharmacy

Communication & Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Excellent organisational skills, to be a good team player and able to work alone
  • Good written/oral communication skills , able to interpret
