Job overview

An exciting opportunity has become available for Band 3 Phlebotomists at Russell's Hall Hospital Outpatient Emergency Department and Paediatric Clinic.

This role involves providing a phlebotomy service to children in the Children's Department at Russells Hall Hospital, the role will also involve supporting the Emergency Department with phlebotomy and cannulation of patients. 

Working hours will be between between 8am-10pm (depending if working within Paediatirc Department or Emergency Department, providing a 7-day service including weekends, Bank Holidays and Christmas.

Full clinical skills training will be provided to support the service. Must have existing Phlebotomy experience, and be willing to undertake Cannulation Training. 

Main duties of the job

To provide a high quality Phlebotomy service that offers the best possible standards of patient care to patients and any other area requiring venesection services.

Qualifications & Education

Essential criteria
  • GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English and Maths.

Knowledge and Training

  • Commitment to develop and maintain skills and knowledge.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Able to communicate the needs of the role to relevant team members\managers
  • Able to work quickly under indirect supervision
  • Trained and have experience within Venepuncture
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with children within a hospital environment

Communication and Relationship Skills

Essential criteria
  • Able to work well with patients and staff at all levels. Understanding of the needs of patients and the department’s role in their fulfilment.

Analytical and Judgement Skills

  • The ability to recognise and respond accordingly to Safeguarding concerns.
